Nau Mai! Nau Mai! Haere Mai! Wairoa Maori Film Festival 2021!

Join us for the 16th annual Wairoa Maori Film Festival, to be held at the Gaiety Theatre. Wairoa, and Kahungunu Marae, Nuhaka from Thursday, June 3 to Monday, June 7.

We have a full weekend of films in Wairoa, and three big nights:

  • Friday - Mana Maori Shorts 2021 films ($25) at the Gaiety Theatre

  • Saturday - Festival Gala Dinner & Awards ($50) at Wairoa War Memorial Hall

  • Sunday - PIXIE WILLIAMS Documentary & Live Music Cabaret ($50) at the Gaiety Theatre

Founded in 2005, the Wairoa Māori Film Festival is the longest running Māori and indigenous film festival in NZ. The festival occurs every Queen's Birthday weekend on the East Coast of the North Island, at Kahungunu Marae in Nuhaka and at the Gaiety Theatre in Wairoa. The festival each year is part of the living history of Māori and New Zealand cinema.

In 2021. we are once again presenting a four day weekend of films at the Gaiety Theatre in Wairoa.

Ticket costs:

A full Festival Delegate Screening Pass ($100) and tickets to the 15th Anniversary Dinner & Awards ($50) can be pre-purchased online. BUY ONLINE

Friday's special event "Finding Our Voice" is only $20 and Saturday's special event "A Night At the Maori Movies" is only $20.

Sunday’s Gala 15th Anniversary Dinner & Awards, with special guest Kui Wano, is only $50 and is held in the stunning Taihoa Marae. BUY ONLINE

Taihoa Marae Stay $25 night (in marae or tent site).
